Children at the nursery have the opportunity to swim once a week during the afternoons in the Granary Pool from the beginning of May until the end of October (weather dependent). The pool is enclosed with a Perspex dome and the water is maintained at a really warm temperature allowing the children to feel very relaxed.
Each swimming session lasts approximately 45 minutes and are taught by Sue and Carol who are both qualified swimming instructors with current First Aid qualifications and have years of teaching experience between them.
We introduce the children to basic swimming techniques with confidence building activities. We have lots of fun and often use and adapt songs, games and ideas from their mornings in the nursery, so that the whole experience becomes an extension of their play. We have a wide collection of water toys for our games and use armbands, floats and woggles as swimming aids.
During the summer holidays, the children are able to continue their swimming lessons within small groups, if desired.
