Owner and Practitioner
Allie is the owner of the Nursery and manages the day to day running with the support of Head Teacher Linda Gray and the rest of the staff.
Having completed a languages degree at Bradford University, Allie continued her training at University of East Anglia to complete a P.G.C.E to become a qualified teacher.
Since then, she has had experience of teaching across the Foundation Stage and Primary sector.
In recent years Allie worked in a Kindergarten in Hong Kong when she moved there with her family.
Allie has taken over the Nursery since January 2012 but was already familiar with the staff and setting as her elder children attended the Nursery before going on to school and younger twins are waiting to attend!
Linda trained at Nene College, Northampton where she gained her Honours degree in combined studies including Art and Mathematics. Linda had 6 years teaching experience before working at the Granary, including 3 years experience in nursery education. Linda was in charge of Caterpillar class for 5 years before becoming Head Teacher of The Granary in September 2001.In July 2010, Linda gained her Early Years Professional Status.
Head Nursery Nurse and Swimming Instructor
In 1976 Carol qualified as a nursery nurse at Welgarth Training College, since then she has gained experience working with children in a day nursery, as a nanny, in a school and as a playgroup leader. She has been part of the Granary team since January 1993. Carol is also an assistant swimming teacher. Carol was in charge of Butterfly class from 2001 for nine years before moving back into Caterpillar class.
Michelle started working with children primarily in a voluntary role. After having time off to have her family, Michelle then trained to NVQ Level 2 in 2004 and worked in a School Nursery in Hertfordshire for 2 years. Michelle joined the Granary after relocating to Suffolk in March 2006 and is planning to work towards her NVQ Level 3 in the next school year.
Room Leader, Caterpillar Class
Nicola has a level 3 NNEB qualification. She joined the Granary in January 2009 working in Class 2 part-time as well as nannying for a local family. Nicola has previously had experience working in a local day nursery but has mostly had nannying jobs since qualifying in 1998. Nicola is now the room leader for the Caterpillar class
Katy gained her NNEB qualification in 1997 and then worked as a private Nanny for 12 years before starting her own family. She now works part time in Butterfly Class. Katy has always had close contact with the Nursery – from work experience whilst at college, to bringing the children in her care as a Nanny. Both of her own children have attended the Granary.
Claire joined the team as Nursery Cook in January 2015, working in a job share with Louise. As a mother of two boys Claire is used to cooking for children! She has experience of working as a kitchen chef in a commercial setting having worked at The Butley Orford Oysterage for some time, and has a natural flair for cooking. Claire consistently produces high quality meals from our tiny kitchen on the premises. Her creativity doesn’t stop here as she is also a freelance florist.
Supply Nursery Assistant (Qualified Teacher)
Sue trained at Bedford P.E. College and had 5 years teaching experience before opening the Granary 20 years ago. Previously she was involved with local playgroups and organised several children's sporting clubs in Framlingham. As well as her specialist P.E. training Sue has had musical training. Sue is a qualified teacher of swimming and along with Carol and Ali, during the Summer and Autumn terms offers swimming lessons to children at the Nursery. Sue also comes back to us as relief cover when necessary since handing over the business earlier this year.
Sue joined the Granary Nursery in January 2013.
Sue initially started working with children as a trained paediatric nurse and whilst working in the hospital setting, completed an Early Childhood Studies degree.
When her teenage children were little, Sue worked at Earl Soham Primary School and playgroup in a voluntary capacity and was employed by Rainbow Nursery, Saxtead for nearly two years.
Sue is currently enjoying working part-time in classes 1 and 2.
Amy joined the nursery as an apprentice straight from completing her GCSEs at Thomas Mills High School in 2013. Amy spent her first year with us gaining experience and putting into practice the theory she was learning about in college (Suffolk New College). At the end of her first year Amy successfully achieved her Level 2 CACHE qualification and is considering working towards a Level 3 in due course.
All of the Nursery staff hold a current Paediatric First Aid Training and Safeguarding qualifications.
